2027: PGF Endorses Tinubu’s Re-Election Bid
By Hussaini Ibrahim
ABUJA, Nigeria — Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress under the Progressive Governors’ Forum have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 presidential election, citing the impact of his administration’s economic reforms and development policies.
The endorsement came as members of the forum joined President Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja during the submission of the president’s nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2027 election.
The development signals growing political support within the ruling party for Tinubu’s re-election bid amid ongoing economic reforms, infrastructure projects and efforts aimed at stabilising the country’s economy under the Renewed Hope agenda.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, said the endorsement was informed by what he described as the administration’s commitment to repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and national development.
“The endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the Progressive Governors’ Forum was born out of the impactful economic reforms of his Renewed Hope administration, which have continued to reposition our nation for sustainable growth and national development,” Uzodimma said.
According to him, the administration has recorded progress across key sectors, including infrastructure, economic revitalisation, security and human capital development.
“As we joined him at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, ably represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, for the submission of the nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2027 presidential election, it was evident that the administration’s vision for a prosperous Nigeria remains steadfast and widely embraced,” he stated.
Uzodimma added that continued support for the president remained necessary to sustain the implementation of the administration’s policies and programmes.
“Mr President has delivered greatly in the transformation of our dear nation across critical sectors, including infrastructure, economic revitalisation, security and human capital development,” he said.
“It is, therefore, imperative that we continue to support him in advancing the progressive ideals of the Renewed Hope agenda for the benefit of all Nigerians,” the governor added.
