Gabon Coup: Cameroon President carry out major changes in defence

Barely 24 hours after an unexpected coup in Gabon, Cameronian President, Paul Biya made some key changes in the country’s Ministry of Defence.

The tragic event of the coup took place on Tuesday night shortly after announcing the incumbent Biya won the country’s general election occurred on 24 August.

This occurred amid a diplomatic crisis between the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the Junta in the Republic of the Niger which expelled President Mohamed Bazoum on 26 July, in the same scenario.

Currently, the West African countries are facing a whirlwind coup range from Mali, Sudan Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau.

Our correspondent reports that President Paul Kagame (Rwanda) has also approved the retirement of several RDF generals, including a Senior Presidential Adviser on security matters, Gen. James Kabarebe.
