Renewed Boko Haram: CDS in Maiduguri, said Nigerian Armed Forces are determined to neutralize threat poised by insecurity in Niger, Chad, & Burkina Faso

The Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Christopher Musa on Thursday said that the renewed Boko Haram attacks on the military bases and towns in Borno were as a result of insecurity in the Sahel region, especially Niger Republic, Chad and Burkina Faso.

It could be recalled that the minister of Defense, Alhaji Muhammad Badaru, his state Counterpart, Alhaji Bello Matawalli and the CDS, General Christopher Musa were in Maiduguri recently on a similar mission.

The Chief of Defense Staff who was in Maiduguri on an assessment and operation visit to Northeast Operation Hadin Kai, was accompanied by principal officers from the Army, Naval and Air force headquarters to restrategize the ongoing fight against insurgency.

Speaking in an interview after a closed door meeting, General Christopher Musa said ” I am here to assess the damage caused by
the Giwa Barracks explosion and to restrategize our operations.

“The security challenges in Niger,Mali and Burkina Faso is what causing threat to Nigeria, what is happening now is a passing phase and We will soon overcome it. The Nigerian Armed Forces will defeat insurgency and other threats,” CDS said..

General Musa said, I want to assure Nigerians that, the Armed Forces is determined to defeat insurgency and other threats facing the nation”.

He said, recently I was in Russia, we’re going to partner with them and all countries that loves to see how we can deal with all threats”.

“I am here to see my troops and encourage them, to tell them, Mr. President is with them, Nigerian are with them and praying for them and by the Grace of God, we will definitely defeat all threats”, he added.

The CDS also inspected the scene of the Giwa Barracks explosions, where he addressed the troops and assured them that the President and Commander in Chief, Defense headquarters and Nigerians are with them, that whatever they needed will be given to them within the available resource to enable deal with the insurgents.
