Gov. Buni to Receive Honorary Doctorate in Public Administration from Federal University Gashua

Yobe State Governor, His Excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, will be conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Public Administration (Honoris Causa) by the Federal University Gashua (FUGA), as part of activities lined up for the university’s maiden combined convocation ceremony.
The prestigious academic honour will be officially conferred on Governor Buni on Saturday, 12 July, 2025 during the grand convocation ceremony at the university campus in Gashua, Yobe State.
According to a statement from the university, Governor Buni is among six eminent Nigerians selected for the honorary degrees in recognition of their exceptional contributions to national development, leadership, public service, and education.
Governor Buni’s selection for the Doctor of Public Administration Honoris Causa is in acknowledgment of his visionary leadership, commitment to good governance, youth empowerment, and infrastructural development in Yobe State, as well as his distinguished national service as a former Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.
Other awardees include the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Minister of Police Affairs and former Governor of Yobe State, Senator Ibrahim Gaidam; former President of the Senate, Senator Ahmed Lawan; Emir of Lafia and retired Supreme Court Justice, HRH Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I; and former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji.
The Federal University Gashua, established in 2013, is holding its first-ever combined convocation ceremony, marking a major milestone in the institution’s history.
Governor Buni is expected to attend the event alongside other dignitaries, government officials, members of the academic community, and traditional rulers.
The convocation will also feature the awarding of degrees to graduating students, celebrating academic excellence and institutional growth.
