Adamawa Govt Urges Unity at Launch of 1447/1448 Islamic Calendar as over N50M realised

The Adamawa state government has charged religious based organizations to inculcate and promote unity, mutual understanding, spirit of tolerance, forgiveness and harmonious relationship among their teeming faithfuls in the state.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri dropped the charge at the State Muslim Council’s presentation/launching ceremony of the Islamic calendar for year 1447/1448AH (2025/2026) in Yola weekend stressing that no meaningful development can be achieved without peace and harmony.
Represented by the Commissioner for Rehabilitation, Reconstruction, and Reconciliation, Barrister Bello Hamman Diram, Fintiri, reiterated his administration’s commitment to peaceful coexistence among diverse religious communities in the state.
He called on Muslims to live in peace with their non-muslim counterparts in accordance with the Islamic teachings in the interest of Adamawa’s development.
In his good will message, Speaker of the Adamawa state Assembly, Hon.Wesley Bathiya expressed gratitude to the Muslim Council’s leadership under the state chairman, Mal Gambo Jika for the roles being played to maintaining peace and respect among different believers.
Bathiya announced that the Assembly is supporting the calendar launching with N5Million for twenty five (25) copies.
In his remarks, Chairman of the Occasion and Commissioner for local government affairs, Hon.Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji emphasized the importance of upholding Islamic principles and values, urging Muslims in the state to remain steadfast and united in practicing the religion in line with the teachings of the Qur’an and the traditions of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
Yayaji described the annual gathering as a significant platform for fostering unity and reflection among the Muslim Ummah, stressing the need for adherence to religious tenets for societal growth and cohesion.
Earlier in his welcome address, the State Chairman of the Muslim Council, Alhaji Gambo Jika, noted that the annual program serves as a vital forum for reviewing the progress of Islam in the state and strategizing on ways to strengthen the faith and community development.
Jika pledged that the proceeds of the launching would be used in executing some infrastructures including a clinic and other Da’awa(Islam propagation) activities in the state advising Muslims to adopt the habit of using Islamic calendar which reflects prayer changing times and with the history of the religion.
Our Correspondent reports that the occasion was graced by top government officials, Islamic scholars, politicians as well as traditional rulers where over fifty(50) million naira was realized with the highest donation of N20 million from a business tycoon and philanthropist,Alh.
