Adamawa: Ganye LG collaborates with Unicef on immunization campaigns.

Ganye local government council has inaugurated a hundred man committee tagged “Fathers for Good Health” tasked with the sole responsibility for creating awareness campaigns on immunization in the ten political wards of the area in Adamawa state.
Inaugurating the Committee on Monday in Ganye town, the Executive Chairman, Hon.Faruk Mohammed expressed gratitude to Unicef for selecting his local council, Ganye among the three in the state for the rigorous campaign on vaccination to children and women.
Hon.Mohammed pledged to support the group in what ever way possible for the success of the exercise urging them to work assiduously towards ensuring that the goals set are achieved.
Addressing the members of the new group Unicef Social Change Behavioral, SCB.Specialist Unicef Bauchi Field Office, George Eki explained that the Unicef observed the impact of the same program in changing the negative narrative in Bauchi and Gombe states where the participation for immunization improved significantly and decided to implement it in Adamawa state as well.
Eki said that, the group who are majorly fathers are expected to use their various fatherly role in sensitizing their people to make ensure that their families are being immunized whenever the need arises.
Eki noted that, the immunization register given to them provide information on the number of houses, households,names of families and children which will show the numbers for the registered people in the area for record purposes.
He charged the fathers for good health group to work hard so that they cover all households in their localities stressing that the greatest beneficiaries of immunization for children are the parents because if a child fail sick,it is the parents or guardians who always shoulder the brunt.
Earlier in his remarks, the Executive Secretary of primary health care development department of Ganye local government area,Jared Satburi Gangso said that the members of the group were carefully selected due to their commitment and versatility in health care delivery services.
Gangso urged them to step up the immunization awareness campaigns in their domains so that the impact can be realize in short period of time noting that registration of pregnant women and maternal maternity exercises are highlighted to the target audience for easy understanding.
