Ramadan 2026: Buni approves ₦50,000 cash support for social media actors
By Hussaini Ibrahim
DAMATURU, NIGERIA — Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State has approved a cash support package for social media actors in the state as part of efforts to mark the end of Ramadan and prepare for the Eid-el-Fitr celebrations.
The initiative is being coordinated through the Office of the Commissioner for Information, Abdullahi Bego, in collaboration with the Office of the Focal Person on Digital and Strategic Communications, Yusuf Ali.
According to a statement issued by the Digital and Strategic Communications unit, the gesture reflects the administration’s recognition of the role played by digital advocates in promoting government policies, programmes, and achievements across online platforms.
The statement noted that eligible beneficiaries—those actively engaged in supporting and promoting the administration’s initiatives—will receive ₦50,000 each as a Sallah package.
It added that the intervention is not only aimed at appreciating their contributions but also designed to ease financial pressures on beneficiaries and their families during the concluding days of Ramadan and the upcoming Eid-el-Fitr festivities.
The government described the support as part of its broader commitment to inclusive engagement and encouragement of stakeholders contributing to the state’s development narrative.
Beneficiaries were urged to sustain their efforts by using social media responsibly, particularly in promoting unity, peace, and positive representation of Yobe State.
The statement further emphasised the importance of digital platforms in shaping public perception and fostering constructive dialogue within society.
Governor Buni’s administration has, in recent years, continued to engage various groups, including youth and media actors, as part of its strategy to strengthen communication and public participation in governance.
The latest gesture underscores the government’s approach to leveraging digital influence while encouraging responsible online engagement among citizens.
