Tears of Families, colleagues rolls as four NYSC members laid to rest in Adamawa

The family members and colleagues of the four corps members that lost their lives in auto crash wept uncontrollably as they were laid to in Yola cemetery in Adamawa state.

Specialist Hospital Yola mortuary was grief-filled the National Youth service corps,NYSC Adamawa state Secretariat,loved ones , friends, colleagues and sympathisers to pay their last respect to the deceased on Monday.

Recall that the deceased corps members includ ing; Jalilat Suleiman, Usman Shuaibu, Abdullahi Dauda belonged to 2026 Batch A’s stream ll who had just completed their orientation exercise and were on transit to report to their posted areas of primary responsibilities when they lost their lives in an auto crash along the Narehi axis of the Girei–Song Road in the State,

Parents wept openly over the loss of children whose futures had appeared full of promise, while friends and fellow corps members struggled to come to terms with the tragedy.

‎Many corps members stood quietly in shock as their deceased colleagues were laid to rest also remembering colleagues with whom they had shared hopes, fears and expectations for the service year ahead.

Speaking on behalf of the NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs Osoroh Chinedu expressed profound sadness over the loss and offered prayers for the peaceful repose of the departed souls.

‎Mrs Osoroh Chinedu assured the bereaved families of the scheme’s continued support during the difficult period as condolence letters from NYSC management were presented to the grieving families.

Immediately after the prayers, the bodies were taken for burial, and a solemn silence descended on the gathering, reminding those present of the fragility of life and the uncertainty of tomorrow.

It could be recalled that six persons, a soldier and four members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), were reportedly killed in a devastating road accident involving a military truck and a commercial Hummer bus on Tuesday 3rd June 2026.

All five passengers aboard the commercial vehicle were burnt beyond recognition as the bus was engulfed by fire moments after the crash.

Preliminary investigations identified two of the victims as Suleiman Juliet and Usman Shuaibu, both indigenes of Kaduna State and serving NYSC members deployed to Adamawa State.

A military personnel who was among the personnel travelling in the military vehicle lost his life in the accident.
