Subsidy Removal: UMAPO, YBSHTA Seek Review Of Motorcycle Curfew Time In Yobe
By Usman Bello, Damaturu
As part of efforts to cushion the sufferings of it’s members, United Marketers Association Potiskum (UMAPO) and Yobe State Harmonized Traders Association (YBSHTA) have written a letter to Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni through the State Security Adviser, Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd) requesting for the review of curfew time restricting riding Motorcycle after 8:00pm across the state.
Alhaji Nasiru Mato, Chairman of the UMAPO Association made the plea signed letter addressed to the Governor.
According to him, the removal of the fuel subsidy has posed untold sufferings to motorists whom he said have parked their cars and opted for use of Motorcycles.
The current economic situation of the Country has touched the citizens, most of the people of the state now use motorcycles as a means of transportation within and outside their Local Government Areas”.
However, the curfew for the two-wheeled ride (Bike) is 8:00pm which is insufficient for people to round up their legitimate businesses, in cases of emergencies challenges arise, we appeal to the concerned authorities to look into it with a view to extending the time.
