Yobe: NYSC Members Urged on Safety, Vigilance Across State

Mrs Hafsat Yerima, the Coordinator NYSC Yobe has urged Yobe State corps members to always be vigilant and weary of their environment in order to maintain safety.

She made the plea while briefing the 2023 batch C stream 1 prospectives Corps Members at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp Dazigau, Nangere Local Government Area of the State.

The State Coordinator urged the corps members to be security conscious, vigilant and to be very aware of their environment. She said while taking charge of their surroundings they should report any strange or suspicious movements or behaviour.

She outlined the importance of participation in all the four cardinal programmes of the NYSC scheme.

Yerima further announced that the orientation camp clinic will function 24 hrs and it operate throughout the period of the course. Both corps members and camp officials should utilize its services when the need arise.

During the brief the State Coordinator clarified the three allowances entitled to corps members while on camp as transport, bicycle and their first monthly allowance. The information was received with accolade from the corps members.

Furthermore, she announced that participation in all camp activities is compulsory for corps members, except for those with valid medical reasons, certified by the camp clinic.
Corps members were also reminded to adhere strictly to the approved dress code without compromise.
Kit items were detailed, specifying the clothing and gear provided to each corps member.

Discipline was emphasized as a core value of the Scheme, and that channel of communication is that any request emanating from them should go through Platoon Officers to the camp Director and State Coordinator.

The State Coordinator also informed that Camp Court was introduced as a means of trying earing corps members who violate camp rules. Also the corps members were advised to use social media in positive manner and that they prohibited from addressing the press especially on issues bordering on policies of the Scheme.

Highlights of the brief includes appointment of three Corps Camp Directors, three hearty cheers to the State coordinator and vote of thanks by a corps member assuring the State Coordinator of their willingness to put up their best.
