Retired civil servants in Yobe state have lauded Governor, Mai Mala Buni for the upward review of the monthly standing payment for gratuity from N100 million to N200 million, to improve the coverage of payment of retirement benefits.
The retirees who gave the commendation in an interview said the decision by the Governor to increase the monthly standing payment would speed up payment of benefits to retired civil servants in the state.
The Nigeria Union of Pensioners commended Governor Buni for paying special and deliberate attention to retirees in the state to improve their lives in retirement.
Alhaji Kachalla Goni, National Trustee of the union said “the union wishes to extend its appreciation to His Excellency the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni CON, for graciously approving the increase of the monthly standing payment for gratuity from N100m to N200m”.

“This humane gesture gives us hope that the queue for payment of benefits would move fast, and as a retired civil servant, l am hopeful that l will soon be paid my benefits” Bulama said.
Lawan Hussaini, another retired civil servant, said “the increase would afford timely payment of benefits by the state government to the retired civil servants.”
