Gov. Buni reassures consignments to strengthening resilience, post-insurgency recovery initiatives

His excellency Hon. Mai Mala Buni the executive Governor of Yobe State has reiterated his administration’s dedication to enhancing collaboration with the federal government and the European Union (EU) in bolstering the resilience of the people and implementing post-insurgency initiatives to prevent the recurrence of insecurity in the North East region.
A statement signed and released by the press secretary to the Deputy Governor revealed that Governor Buni expressed this commitment during a courtesy visit by a projects consortium led by Mr. Ruben of the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) at the government house in Damaturu.
Represented by his Deputy, Honorable Idi Barde Gubana (Wazirin Fune), Governor Buni acknowledged the support of development partners in fostering a more stable and prosperous future for Yobe State, believing that these efforts will boost the socio-economic status of the region and attract both local and international investments.
He assured that the state government is actively working to create an enabling environment for businesses to flourish, emphasising the importance of executing planned initiatives smoothly.
Governor Buni highlighted the consortium’s focus on disengagement, review, reintegration, and reconciliation of individuals formerly associated with non-state armed groups in the North East, emphasising the state’s commitment to supporting those who choose peace and contribute positively to society.
The leader of the mission, Mr. Lauren de Bock, informed the governor that the consortium comprised the European Union (EU), International Organisation for Migration (IOM), United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), all working together to promote stability and recovery in the region.
