SECURITY: NORTHERN GOVERNORS RESOLVED TO WORK TOGETHER TO FIGHT INSECURITY IN THE REGION

Governors from the North-west have pledged to work together and adopt a common approach in tackling security challenges bedeviling the region.
Katsina State Governor and chairman North west Governors Forum Dr. Dikko Umar Radda said this during the inauguration of the Sokoto State security guards held at Giginya Memorial Stadium Sokoto.
Dr. Dikko Radda revealed that effective synergy and the adoption of a common approach by the states will go a long way toward addressing insecurity and fostering relative peace in the region.
He therefore called on the federal government to come to the aid of the state by supporting their initiatives towards curtailing the menace.
Former Sokoto state governor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko said Sokoto is one of the northern states mostly disturbed by bandits and commended the governor for his visionary, efforts in establishing the guards to complement other security outfits in the state towards tackling insurgency in Sokoto.
Governors of, Kano, Bauchi, Benue, and Plateau states
as well as Sultan Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, and General Aiyu Muhammad Gusau (rtd), in their separate speeches, commended Governor Ahmad Aliyu for the establishment of security guards which they described as a step towards eliminating insecurity in the state.
