Buni’s Health Revolution: Delivering Healthcare to the Doorsteps of Yobe People
By Hussaini Ibrahim Sulaiman
In a remarkable stride towards strengthening primary healthcare delivery in Yobe State, the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni has continued to bring essential health services directly to the people, especially women and children.
The recent activities at Mairi and Gwange Primary Healthcare Centers in Damaturu, as well as Bolewa ‘A’ and Dogon Zare wards in Potiskum, clearly demonstrate this commitment.
Healthcare workers were seen attending to mothers and children with dedication, offering services that would otherwise require long, costly trips to distant hospitals.
For the people of these communities, this development is nothing short of a lifeline.
“These centers have brought succour to us,” said a local resident. “We no longer have to travel long distances for treatment. Now, help is within our reach.”
Beyond access and convenience, this proactive healthcare strategy has helped decongest secondary and tertiary medical facilities, allowing them to focus on more critical cases.
This decentralization of health services reflects a thoughtful and people-first approach by the Buni administration.
Under Governor Buni’s leadership, Yobe State has received notable recognition for its commitment to healthcare development. Prestigious organizations such as the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Dangote Foundation have acknowledged the state’s efforts with awards and prizes—a testament to the impact and innovation of the administration’s health policies.
From Damaturu to Potiskum, the message is clear: Buni is Working, Yobe is Moving.
