Creation of New Chiefdoms In Adamawa: We Commend Gov. Fintiri -Vunobolki

From Muh’d Shafi’u Saleh

A political figure in Adamawa State, Chief Morris Vunobolki, has commended Governor Fintiri decision to create new chiefdoms and emirates in the state, describing it as a visionary and strategic move aimed at fostering grassroots development and good governance.

Speaking to Journalists shortly after the presentation of the staff of office to the Kumu of Gombi at Gombi Local Government Area, Vunobolki emphasized that the initiative would bring governance closer to the people, enhance accountability, and promote unity and peace across the state.

He said “this is a giant step by the executive governor of Adamawa State. The creation of these emirates and chiefdoms is a bold and necessary move to decentralize governance and ensure that development reaches the grassroots”.

He further noted that Nigerians have long yearned for effective governance structures that directly impact their lives, adding that the establishment of these traditional institutions aligns with similar developments in neighboring states such as Taraba, Gombe, and Bauchi.

“It is all about development, prudence, and accountability in governance. It is about taking democracy to the people in a way that makes it meaningful and acceptable. The governor has taken a commendable step to tackle development down to the communities,” he said.

Vunobolki called on the people of Adamawa to embrace the changes, support the newly created traditional institutions, and see them as platforms for fostering peace, unity, and progress. He also urged citizens to pray for the peaceful reign of the new traditional leaders.

The presentation of the staff of office to HRM Kumu Aggrey Ali of Gombi marks the third in a series of coronations following earlier ceremonies on February 5, 2025, for the first Emir of Fufore, Alhaji Ahmadu Sani Ribadu, and on February 6, 2025, for the first Gubo Yungur, HRM Gubo Johnson Diyo Matalo, in Dumne, Adamawa State.

With these developments, Governor Fintiri’s administration continues to push for policies that strengthen governance at the grassroots, ensuring that traditional institutions play a key role in community development and state-wide harmony.
