FG Applauds Governor Buni’s Economic Revolution in Yobe State
The Federal Government has lauded Yobe State, under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni CON, for its remarkable strides in reviving the state’s economy through the establishment and revitalization of key industries.
Alhaji Bala Giyade, the Team Leader of Directors from the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, conveyed this commendation during a meeting with the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, in Damaturu.
Highlighting the administration’s commitment to agro-industrial growth, Giyade pointed to the construction of four sesame seed processing factories in Machina, Nguru, Potiskum, and Damaturu as a groundbreaking initiative to enhance the agricultural value chain.
“This bold initiative by Governor Buni’s administration will not only provide employment for thousands of youths but also contribute significantly to the national economy,” Giyade noted.
The team, part of the Joint Planning Board (JPB) under the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, was in Yobe to evaluate the implementation of National Economic Council (NEC) resolutions for 2024–2025.
Describing the JPB as the nation’s apex policy advisory body for economic planning, Giyade emphasized its role in fostering collaboration among critical stakeholders to devise impactful economic strategies.
He further extolled Yobe State for its investment in agriculture, citing the distribution of agricultural implements worth ₦17 billion to 5,340 farmers and the empowerment of rural communities as transformative efforts strengthening Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
Alhaji Baba Malam Wali, in his remarks, reaffirmed the state government’s dedication to promoting Micro, Small, and Medium-scale Enterprises (MSMEs) by facilitating access to capital and creating employment opportunities.
He also detailed Governor Buni’s delivery of multi-billion-naira modern markets in Damaturu, Gashua, Nguru, Potiskum, Geidam, Ngalda, and Yunusari, noting their substantial contributions to job creation and commercial growth.
Governor Mai Mala Buni’s economic blueprint is positioning Yobe as a model state for sustainable development and inclusive growth.
