Gombe Government Honors Teacher for Exemplary Honesty

By Hussaini Ibrahim

The Gombe State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to recognizing and rewarding teachers who demonstrate excellence, honesty, and trustworthiness in the discharge of their duties.

This pledge was made by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Aishatu Umar Maigari, while receiving the Head Teacher of Fage Primary School, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area, Mallam Abdullahi Ibrahim, who returned a lost sum of ₦300,000 he found during a recently held capacity-building workshop for teachers.

In a ceremony at the Ministry’s headquarters, Prof. Maigari presented a commendation letter to Mallam Ibrahim on behalf of the government and people of Gombe State. She also handed him an undisclosed cash reward, praising his outstanding display of patriotism and trustworthiness, especially in the face of the prevailing economic challenges.

Describing Ibrahim as a “role model for teachers and students alike,” the Commissioner announced plans to professionally reward him further. She also directed that a billboard bearing his image be erected in front of Fage Primary School to serve as a lasting reminder to pupils that “honesty remains the best policy.”

Earlier, the Executive Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Hon. Babaji Babadidi, represented by Board Member Dr. Gambo Adamu Aliyu, commended the teacher for upholding high moral standards. Dr. Aliyu urged other teachers across the state to emulate Mallam Ibrahim’s exemplary conduct.

Speaking on behalf of the Yamaltu Deba Local Education Authority, Education Secretary Usman Abubakar expressed gratitude to the state government for recognizing Abdullahi Ibrahim’s honesty and integrity, describing the honor as a strong encouragement for ethical public service.

The State Government’s recognition of Mallam Ibrahim comes as part of broader efforts to promote moral values and professional ethics within the education sector.
