Transformation takes place only when visionary, courageous, consistency and inclusive leader, seizes the opportunity to change things for the better. Before now, in the last couple of years, the development of yobe state, that beautiful society on the rolling hills, water, abundant land and her people, known for hard work, dedication to duty, integrity, honesty, contentment among other positive values has been put to hold, due to government lapses to see beyond sentiment in other to forge ahead.

The hopes and dreams of the teeming youths, poor, less privileged ones have been shattered, the economy was nose-dived, yobe that was known to be an agrarian state with abundant minerals and human resources became clouded.

Social service was almost non existent; The value that made Yobe The Pride of The Sahel have been eroded.

Today yobe state under the leadership of His Excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON. The state have become a prosperous state where life is more meaningful for the people, irrespective of tribe, religion or political affiliation.

Mai Mala Buni came prepared to Govern and turn the state around, his visionary up close have lifted both the state and people and gave the state a different face, look, name and made it a hot business hobnob.

After Just 5 years of epic transformation, yobe is now a shining example of what governance should be at all levels. Gov. Buni’s led administration became a government of the people, by the people and for the people, that is dedicated to service delivery.

Partnership with the people and engendered by trust, very open, transparent, honest in dealing, and unpretentious in every ramifications when it comes to state matters.

He introduces formula, that comprises;

knowledge+ Enterprise = Development and Prosperity.

His government made sure it work around some interrelated pillars; like

a) Foster Economic Growth

b) knowledge – Education

c) Agriculture

d) invest in People

e) Nurture Enterprise and Innovation

f) Ensure Wellbeing ( Hospitals & Healthcare centers) for efficient and effective service delivery across the state and 17 LGAs

Knowledge is power – Education is the fountain of life and it becomes a means to an end and redeployed for economic growth, and ensure it makes significant impact in the life of the society.

The first and foremost step Buni took on taking oath of office on the 29may 2019 was a bold and necessary step, when he declared state of emergency on education sector, knowing fully how dilapidated the schools are across the state, especially the basic education.

Basic schools took a different perspective immediately it came in contact with an expertise and well meaning Governor of modern world.

Constructing a befitting mega schools across the 17 LGAs of the state and redesigning a forward looking curriculum to renew thinking on pedagogy, delivery school management while infusing methods with new thinking, patriotism and technology.

Buni partnered with the world Bank and other development partners and re-engaged in the school reform to a modern standard process with the vision up close of making yobe the best in Nigeria by 2027 with the highest paid inshaa Allah.

His adminstration restored all cadre of teacher training and conditions of service to encourage influx of best brains possible.

He also involved teachers as major stakeholder when discussing and taking decisions on issues affecting the state and ways forward.

Health Sector;

Health and wellness

His excellency, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, CON. The executive Governor of Yobe state constructed the biggest maternity, paediatric and newborn complex cut across Africa, with conducive and patient friendly, with the best practice in modern maternal, newborn and paediatric healthcare services.

He never stopped there, he made sure he built 178 healthcare centres across the 17 LGAs, each ward with a befitting healthcare centre equipped and managed by professionals for efficient and effective service delivery.

Economic Growth; his administration constructed the biggest Trailer Transit park cut across Africa and equipped with modern facilities and business friendly, with shops, business centres, police station, for law and justice, fire service for emergency fire broke out, mechanic village among others.

He constructed the largest modern markets and stalls and after commissioning he subsidized it by 35% for easy accessing and business boosting.

Gov. Buni Triggered revolution in the Agricultural sector as an agrarian society & (The Pride of The Sahel) Thus, agriculture is the veritable engine of growth.

He worked aggressively and got yobe back to reckoning by creating wealth and new jobs within the sector, he brought about modern mechanized farming, providing tractors, seedling, cash and subsidized fertilizer to enable farmers reach or meet their targets, he also partnered with kingdom of Morocco and the Chinese government on improved hybrid rice farming by providing 20,000 hectares of land for the rice farming.

He brought about large-scale mechanized commercial farming, the under application of modern technology and the production of quality and value-added products.

Partnering with private sector players to facilitate the sorting and transportation of produce to the market, by so doing, he build farming communities with necessary infrastructure, added roads, water, power healthcare centres, education among other, which will soon become resorts for tourism, with the international cargo airport yobe will evolve more in IGR inshaa Allah.

His visionary up close kept transforming the state and impacting in the life of the society through renewed vision and breathing life in some dilapidated companies in the state, the Aluminium factory, Rice mill, Leather and local Mats among others

His administration also build drainages, state and federal roads cut across the state, powered the streets with hydro solar power lights and transformers to contain the epileptic and zoning of power supply in the state and to meet up with the biggest maternity, newborn and paediatric centre constructed and situated in the state.

Provision of subsidized housing, he built 3,600 housing units cut across the 3 senatorial district of the state.

He raised home township among workers on a large scale and lifted the construction industry by encouraging national mortgage institution to co-invest in the state.

His government undertook nutrition voucher programme for vulnerable groups, senior residents, pregnant women and poor households through state emergency management agency ( SEMA)

Buni also provides enabling environment for a better quality life by emphasizing openness to new learning and innovations, acceptance of others, efficient service, and readiness to work with the people and always with an ear to the ground. He showed example of modesty and prudence.

He undertook vigorous reorientation of the people and seek a kind of knowledge that put emphasis on enterprise for the purpose of creating wealth, through poverty alleviation programme and skill acquisition among others.

That’s why supernatural Nigerian observers who are watching what’s going on in yobe state would convincely but agree with my analysis that ” If Performance is the Major Touchstone in Governance, Buni is “Unassuming Achiever” working in the right direction delivers enduring fruits, hardwork doesn’t kill, it yields life that history acknowledges ultimately.
