Governor Buni Signs ⁸N22.3B Damaturu Flyover, Underpass Project
By Hussaini Ibrahim
The Yobe State Government, under Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration, has signed a N22.3 billion contract to build a state-of-the-art flyover and underpass at the Damaturu main roundabout.
The agreement was signed by Commissioner for Works, Engr. Umar Duddaye on behalf of the state, while Engr. Habib Geojea represented Merss Triacta Nigeria Limited, the contracted firm.
The project, slated for completion within 12 calendar months, is part of a broader infrastructural overhaul that includes not only major roads, bridges, and drainage systems but also the recent signing of a contract with Merss Elegance Construction Nigeria Limited for the Damaturu-Gambir road, expected to be completed in nine months.
Additionally, the Damaturu metropolis is set for a significant transformation with plans to construct 23.5 kilometers of roads and install 27 kilometers of concrete-lined drainage and resurfacing on all major city roads.
This expansive initiative is scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2025.
Local residents have expressed enthusiasm about the projects, hailing them as crucial steps toward beautifying the city and enhancing its status as the state capital.
The ambiguous projects underscore Governor Buni’s commitment to sustainable urban development and have earned widespread accolades for his administration’s transformative achievements in Yobe State.
