Governor Fintiri approved payment of N70,000 to workers in Adamawa.
From Umar Dankano
The Adamawa state Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved N70,000 as minimum wage for workers in the state starting from this month (August).
Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, in the state, Comrade Emmanuel Fashe disclosed the development in Yola yesterday shortly after a closed door meeting with GovernorFintiri.
Fashe said state government workers will start receiving their salaries with the new minimum wage from August, 2024 while their counterparts at the local government level will benefit from September.
Fashe highlighted that the template to be used, is the consequential adjustment table that was used in 2019, pending the release of the table from the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission.
“Whatever the worker was getting as present national minimum wage of N32,000 as it applies to Adamawa State, that same will be applied in terms of percentages in implementation of the new minimum wage, ” he said.
While applauding the Governor for being proactive in the welfare of his people the NLC Chairman urge civil servants to be up and doing in their official callings so as to move the state forward.
“Governor Fintiri is keen to the welfare of the workers, hence the implementation of the new minimum wage even before the release of the table from the national salaries, wages and income commission.” Fashe declared.
