Impersonation: Fake VIO in Police net for alleged fraud and job racketeering in Adamawa

A middle aged woman, Face Samuel have been arrested by Police for alleged impersonation and job racketeering in Adamawa state.

The suspect (Samuel),a resident of Army Barracks road of the state capital was said to poising to be an Vehicle inspection Officer,V.I.O attached to the state ministry of transportation and defrauding unsuspected members of the public in the name of employment facilitation for some times.

Spokesman of the Command,SP Suleiman Nguroje through a press release issued Wednesday in Yola said on receiving intelligence report on the illegal activities of the suspect, operatives were mobilized and arrest was effected while the suspect was wearing fake V.I.O’s uniform.

“On the 22nd of April, 2025, operatives of the Command attached to State intelligent Department (SID) acted on credible intelligence and apprehended a female identified as Face Samuel, a resident of Army Barracks Road, Yola North local government area.

“The suspect on several occasions impersonated  a Vehicle Inspection Officer (V.I.O) and defrauded the following persons: Blessing Kefas, Abel Samuel, Evlyne Amos, and Friday Adamu the sum of three hundred and fifty thousand (₦350,000), under the pretense of securing employment for them with the Vehicle Inspection Office, Ministry of transportation in Adamawa State.

“The suspect confessed committing the crime and further disclosed that the V.I.O’s uniform used in the fraudulent act was given to her by yet to be identified person”.The release highlighted 

Commissioner of Police in the state,CP Dankombo Morris, urged members of the public to report people of such character, assuring  of diligent Investigation to uncover other possible victims and collaborators involved in the crime.
