Additionally, 101 pieces of raw donkey skin, packed in seven sacks, were intercepted, representing the slaughter of 101 donkeys. The Controller emphasized that such illegal exports violate Schedule Six of the Common External Tariff and Section 150 of the NCS Act, 2023, posing a threat to biodiversity and the economy.
The interceptions occurred across various locations, including Mubi-Sahuda road, Girei-Wuro Boki axis, Maiha road, Bakin Kogi, Belel-Farang axis, Gurin-Fufore axis, and Apawa-Jalingo axis. Some of the seized PMS has already been auctioned to the public in compliance with NCS Act, 2023, with the remaining stock set for auction post-briefing due to its inflammable nature. Proceeds will be remitted to the federation account.
Despite facing threats and harassment from smugglers, the Command remains steadfast. “We will not relent in this fight against economic saboteurs until they are suffocated and crippled,” the Controller declared, urging detractors to pursue legitimate businesses.
The Command’s success is attributed to intelligence-driven operations, modern technology, and collaboration with other NCS units, including FOU ‘D’, CIU, SIS, and other security agencies.
The Controller appealed to the press for continued support through positive journalism and called on patriotic Nigerians and legitimate traders to join the fight against illicit trade.
“This is a collective effort to protect our economy and security,” he said, reaffirming the NCS’s role as a facilitator of legitimate trade and an anti-smuggling crusader.
