Ramadan Fasting: Jigawa Govt Reduces Working Hours for Civil Servants

By Hussaini Ibrahim

The Jigawa State Government has announced a reduction in official working hours for civil servants during the 2025 Ramadan fast.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Muhammad K. Dagaceri, on Tuesday.

According to the statement, Governor Malam Umar A. Namadi approved the adjustment to enable civil servants to observe the holy month with ease. Under the new schedule, workers will report to duty at 9:00 AM and close at 3:00 PM from Monday to Thursday, shortening the usual working hours by two hours. On Fridays, work hours will be from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, in line with the state’s customary practice.

The Head of Service explained that the decision aims to provide civil servants with ample time to prepare for Iftar and participate in the spiritual activities of Ramadan.

“It is hoped that civil servants will use this period to pray for God’s guidance and blessings for our state,” the statement read.

The government also urged workers to take advantage of the fasting period to pray for peace and economic prosperity in Jigawa State and Nigeria as a whole.

The adjustment aligns with similar policies implemented in previous years to accommodate the religious obligations of Muslim civil servants.
