Zulum lauds NEDC For Executing life touching Projects In Borno

Governor, Babagana Zulum of Borno state has commended the Federal Government through the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for executing life torching projects across the State.

The Governor who made the commendation on Wednesday while speaking in an interview after taking delivery of projects from the Minister of State Regional Development, Mr Uba Maigari and the management team of the NEDC, said that no any federal government agency has committed so much to the State like the NEDC.

He said though no agency does not have it’s shortcomings, praised the commission for well done job, saying that, Almighty Allah says that any human being that is not grateful to his fellow human being will not be grateful to God. So MD and his management team, we thank you so much. ”

He said that the volume of money that has been sunk into the projects are much that if not for the Commission, the State would have faced financial stress to execute the projects.

He also commended the Chairman of Governing Board of NEDC, Maj Gen Paul Tarfa, the Managing Director, Mohammed Alkali, and his team for all the items that have been provided to the government and people of Borno State by the Commission.

“We started taking delivery of the commissioned projects with the Police Barracks and State constructed by the Commission in Konduga and Bama local government areas. From there we proceeded to Drug Centre where health facilities were commissioned. We also proceeded the Federal Neuro-Psychiatric hospital Maiduguri, were renovated and remodelled female ward with facilities were commissioned”, Zulum.said.

“We were at DSS quarters where ultramodern clinic and equipment was commissioned, from where we proceeded to the ICT centre at Agency for Mass Literacy Maiduguri built and equipped by the NEDC for promotion of digital literacy. We are here to take delivery of equipment and consumables provide by the NEDC for the remodelled Borno State Eye and Dental hospital”, he added.

He further Said, i want to equivocally say that there is no any federal government agency that committed so much to the State like the NEDC. And to the new Ministry, we thank you very much, the President and Commander – In- Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces is quite appreciated, because if not for his support, these projects could not have been achieved. On behalf of government and good people of Borno State, I want to thank you and report to the people that NEDC is doing well. ”

Also speaking, the Minister of State Regional Development, Mr Uba Maigari, extended his deepest condolences to the government and people of Borno State over the recent loss of lives and displacement resulting from the tragic flooding incident due to the spill from the Alau Dam.

The minister said that the Ministry of Regional Development (MRD) was established by His Excellency, President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, to coordinate and drive inclusive development and Peace buidling.

Amadu said as part of this renewed initiative, he has been tasked to directly supervise the operations of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), the North West Development Commission (NWDC), and the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).

He also said the establishment of the NEDC was borne out of the need to rebuild and stabilise the region after years of insurgency and economic disruption,adding that it reflects shared vision for sustainable peace, development, and prosperity in the North East.

“Today’s handing over of completed projects by the NEDC is a testament to that vision. It aligns with the broader North East Stabilization and Development Plan (NESDP) and the 25-year Borno State Development Master Plan, which provides a long-term framework for social, infrastructural, and economic transformation,” he stated.
