“Consolidating Vision, Building Legacy: Dunoma’s Recognition & the 25-Year Development Plan of Borno State”
By Mohammed Tijjani, Maiduguri.
Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, the Borno State Student Union conferred a distinguished award upon Alhaji Goni Dunoma, Chairman of the Borno Investment Company Limited (BOICL) and First Deputy President of the Borno Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (BOCCIMA). This recognition, though a proud moment for the laureate, extends beyond personal honour.
It embodies a powerful affirmation of the collective vision driving Borno State under the stewardship of His Excellency, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, FNSE, mni.
For years, Alhaji Dunoma has personified the values of resilience, innovation, and service, a qualities that are central to the Borno State 25-Year Development Framework and Strategic Transformation Plan.
His business leadership, deeply rooted in industrial expansion and community empowerment, aligns seamlessly with Governor Zulum’s blueprint for rebuilding, repositioning, and sustaining growth in the state.
The award by ABU students is thus not only a celebration of individual excellence but also a reinforcement of a shared mission: to consolidate development efforts that will secure the prosperity of the younger generations.
The vision of the 25-Year Development Plan is to transform Borno into a hub of commerce, education, and sustainable livelihoods, even against the backdrop of insurgency and socio-economic challenges.
Leaders like Alhaji Dunoma, who anchor their professional and civic contributions within this vision, become natural allies in the consolidation of this transformative agenda. His recognition across multiple forums— from chambers of commerce to academic institutions— broadly highlighted his role as both an economic driver and a social bridge between policy frameworks and grassroots realities.
By honoring him, the Borno Student Union did more than confer an award: they signaled the awakening of a generation of young scholars who are willing to take ownership of their future and align their aspirations with the state’s development architecture.
It demonstrates that the values championed by His Excellency’s government— accountability, hard work, innovation, and inclusivity —are permeating the consciousness of the next generation.
In political terms, this recognition consolidates the Zulum administration’s message: that development is not a task for government alone, but a shared responsibility.
By investing in education, commerce, and youth empowerment, and by recognizing those who embody this spirit, the Borno Project transcends rhetoric and manifests in lived realities.
As Alhaji Goni Dunoma continues to receive awards and recognitions from national and international fora, each honor strengthens the scaffolding of a larger legacy— one that complements, consolidates, and amplifies the transformative vision of Governor Zulum. It is within such synergies between policy and people, vision and execution, that the 25-Year Development Plan finds its strongest footing.
The message is clear: Borno’s future is secure when leaders, students, and institutions unite under a shared vision of progress.
Long live the Borno State 25-Year Development Plan. Long live the people of Borno. Long live Nigeria.
