Adamawa gov’ship Aspirant, D.D.Azura withdraws from guber race under APC
By Umar Dankano, Yola.
An All Progressives Congress, APC governorship aspirant, Barrister D.D Azura has announced his withdrawal from the 2027 gubertorial bid in Adamawa state.
Azura made the announcement in Yola Monday at a press briefing citing that his action was in the best interest of the party stressing that as a student of politics, l always believed that the party is supreme than anyone.
Azura disclosed that, the political field in Adamawa has witnessed a massive realignment witnessing a fusion of interests that has made the APC the undisputed “Home of the Progressives” in our state.
He explained that,in politics, you don’t just run to be on the ballot; you run to win and to serve. However, when the path to service threatens the very unity of the house you are trying to build, a true leader knows when to recalibrate.
“This new reality requires new strategies.
During our consultations with the Central Working Committee and various interest groups, we made critical observations of the current political field. We have noted the consolidation of leadership and the emergence of a new direction for our party structure.
“Therefore, after an exhaustive review of these field observations and in the spirit of total party cohesion, l have decided to withdraw my ambition to contest for the Governorship of Adamawa State under the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 cycle.
“This decision is a sacrifice for the sake of unity. My stepping back is part of sacrifice so that the APC can move forward as one indivisible family.
“I remain committed to the principle that for the party “APC’ to truly succeed, every member, from the ward to the state level, must feel the impact of a level playing field. My withdrawal today is part of contribution toward that peace.
“To my supporters: This is not the end of the road. It is a change of gear. We are not going home; we are going back to the drawing board to ensure that the people we will support get landslide victory”. Azura maintained.
Azura has been a legal luminary and a politician who also contested for the Adamawa central Senatorial seat in the 2023 general elections but lost out.
