FCE Yola matriculates 647 students for degree programmes

A total of Six hundred and forty seven (647) newly admitted students have been matriculated to study various first degree courses at the Federal College of Education Yola.
Provost of the College, Dr.Mohammad Usman Degereji announced the development at the 11th undergraduate matriculation ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session stressing that many have applied for the degree programs but only 647 met the requirements of the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) and the University of Maiduguri where the college is affiliated with.
Represented by the Deputy Provost of the institution, Hajiya Aisha Bakari, Degereji congratulated the new students for the opportunity provided to them noting that it therefore behooves them to justify the privilege by committing fully to their studies with a view to graduating in flying colors academically and socially.
Degereji told the matriculated students that, by taking the oath and signing, they have entered in to legal contract with the University of Maiduguri and FCE Yola, and have pledged to abide by the rules and regulations of the college.
“We regard you as adults who should conduct yourself responsibly.
“Lest l forget, let me once again remind you that examination malpractice, cultism and other acts of indiscipline are criminal in nature and would not be tolerated in this college.Failure to comply will attract appropriate sanctions”. Degereji warned.
He also urge the students to access the Federal government’s national education loan scheme under the NELFUND program stating that the opportunity is worth accessing for the opportunity provided by the government.
In a good will message, the Voce Chancellor, University of Maiduguri, Prof.
Mohammad Laminu Mele welcomed the students in to Unimaid world of academic pursuits admonishing them to be disciplined and law abiding.
Professor Mele said that the students were admitted into 100 and 200 level degree programmes in affiliation to the University of Maiduguri through Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry(DE) candidates.
Mele stated that 10 were admitted to read B.A Ed (Hons) Arabic,133 for B.A Ed(Hons) English,60 students for B.A Ed. Islamic studies,16 for B.Sc.Ed.(Hons) Agriculture,132 are for B.Sc.Ed.(Hons) Biology.
According to him,50 students were admitted to read B.Sc.Ed.Chemistry,186 for B.Sc.Ed. (Hons) Health Education, 21 for B.Sc.Ed.(Hons) Mathematics and 39 for B.Sc. Ed.(Hons) Physical Education respectively.
Responding on behalf of the matriculated students,Miss Silvia Ezekiel expressed gratitude to the institutions for the opportunity to further their studies pledging to obey all rules and regulations guiding the activities of the college and University as well.
